Currently in progress for general open source release. This is a self-hosted tool that allows IT support technicians to view and control android based phones through a hosted browser. The connection is secure and it uses a deployed VPS for networking and connection relay. All components are hosted by and maintained by the IT department to ensure privacy and low cost.
Created due to frustration with current remote access tools available. Either the client side was too complex for average users to start a remote session or the session starting did not work correctly and the technicians would need to fall back to other tools like MS Teams or having the user come to the IT department. This is designed to be simple for the user while remaining secure.
A single app installed via MDM by the IT department, the user opens the app (just called “IT Support”) and the tech provides a code generated on their admin side in the browser. This allows for remote screen share and if the tech needs control they can request it and the user will only need to enable on their end and toggle a setting. The tech maintains screen visibility as the settings are changed allowing them to guide the user.
Build will be all the server side implementation in a VM file that the IT team can deploy. IT team set up will involve providing the URL and updating DNS records on their end for the site. IT team can then deploy the apk file via any MDM they utilize or manually by downloading onto each device and enabling side loading for the initial install.
When my testing is complete will publish to github for public downloads and implementations. A zero software cost for remote management of devices. Ideal for MSP’s and small IT departments.
